A recent Gallup poll reported that 31 percent of Americans rate the economy as the most important problem facing this country today, while 26 percent would say jobs are the biggest concern. Talk of economic turmoil and unemployment rates has plagued the ongoing presidential campaign as millions of American families are still trying to recover from the Great Recession… Just how are we going to get ourselves out of this mess?
The Washington Monthly will release a special issue on Wednesday called “The Future of Success,” examining the collapse in wealth suffered by most Americans, and our government’s shortcomings in addressing it. The authors of this issue will come together at the New America Foundation this Wednesday for a panel discussion addressing the impacts of the Great Recession, and the ways they think we can recover from it. Join New America’s Phil Longman, Dana Goldstein, and Reid Cramer, along with Mark Schmitt of the Roosevelt Institute’s, Paul Glastris of The Washington Monthly, David Leonhardt of the New York Times, and Heather McGhee of Demos for this timely examination of our government’s biggest concerns.
The event will run from 9:15-11:15 on July 11. Click here for more details and to RSVP to "Jobs are Not Enough," an event brought to you by the New America Foundation's Asset Building Program.
